I'm having trouble understanding a part of my book? easy 10 points?

The book is trying to say that the girl is having her period but at the time her mom is struggling with her marriage. So she is mad because that's one more thing to deal with. Shes going to have to talk to her, by her whatever girls need for that, and teach her how to use the pads or tampons
