In GONE series by Michael Grant, how is Little Pete the cause of the FAYZ wall?

honestly i dont think any one can fully explain what the darkness is ,all we really know is that it can control people and that it is playing with the people in the fayz..... the fayz wall was created by little pete but we dont know y because he cant fully tell us! hopefully plague can explain it all
